About Sport Scoring Solutions

Sport Scoring Solutions is a small independent project based in Pretoria, South Africa. We build free scoring apps for the people who keep sport running: club organisers, coaches, school teachers, volunteers and players who take turns to umpire.

Why we built it

At club nights and social tournaments, scoring often happens on flip cards, scraps of paper or someone's memory. Arguments about whose serve it is, or whether it was 9–8 or 8–9, slow the game down and make results unreliable. Dedicated scoreboards cost money, and most scoring apps need an account or a download, or are filled with features a casual scorer does not need.

We wanted something anyone could open on a phone in seconds. The rules of the format are built in, so a first-time scorer gets the serve rotation, change of ends and game count right.

What we offer today

  • A netball scorer with quarter timer, centre pass and shooting stats.
  • A padel scorer with golden point, star point and tie-breaks.
  • A lawn bowls scorecard for singles, pairs, triples and fours.
  • Tennis and squash scorers that track the server for you.
  • A pool frame counter and a jukskei scorer that applies the 23-point burst rule.
  • Team sports with timers, scorers and cards: hockey, rugby, touch rugby, ringball and korfball.
  • Snooker and darts scorers that do the maths for you.
  • Three table tennis apps: singles, doubles and King of the Table.
  • Four volleyball apps: simple, advanced (with rotation), beach and King of the Beach.
  • Plain-language guides to the scoring rules of each sport.

What is next

We add sports one at a time, starting with formats that have few good free scoring tools. Hexball, badminton and more are on the way. Later we plan to let you save completed matches to a results platform if you want to. Saving will always be optional.

How the site is funded

The apps are free to use and we plan to keep them that way. The site shows advertising from Google AdSense to cover hosting and development. See our privacy policy for how advertising cookies are used and how to manage your choices.
